I believe it would be a travesty of our medical
system (which I consider to be the best in the
world) to restrain our old and indigent populace
who suffer from untreatable mental depression
from the possible help that can be afforded to
them with VNS Therapy. Medicare needs to
recognize the importance of this treatment
modality and its possible impact on those
misfortunates who cannot afford the luxury of
its application. How can we face the world and
state that we have a medical care system in
place for our seniors and poor yet allow the
treatment costs to govern the coverage?
